Metal Activity for the Win!

We did a metal lab a few weeks ago but I am barely writing it up right now. :D

Procedure:

  1. Place 8 drops of copper (II) nitrate in the first column
  2. Place 8 drops of magnesium nitrate in the second column
  3. Place 8 drops of zinc nitrate in the third column
  4. Place 8 drops of silver nitrate in the fourth column
  5. Place a small copper wire in each of the wells in the first row
  6. Place a small magnesium ribbon in each well in the second row
  7. Place a few zinc grannies in the third row
  8. Make sure that the metals are submerged in the liquids
  9. After 5 minutes, observe each reaction that occurs on the solid metal and record on a chart
  10. Clean up!

If there is a R in the box it means there was a reaction.
If there is a NR in the box it means that there was no reaction.
